The 3100 series pressure meter is is a precision measuring device which works with a range of plug in sensors. The meter features high speed measurement and alarm functions as well as data logging, analog output, and optional serial interface. The meter can be connected to absolute or relative pressure sensors. Pressure differences can also be measured between two separate sensors. (depending on model chosen) There are several types of sensors - see below. The two main types are air sensors for non aggressive gases, and stainless steel types for aggressive gases and liquids. These are available in a wide selection of pressure ranges.
The differential air sensors have two input ports so that they can measure a pressure difference by attaching a sample line to each port. If one port is left open the sensor measure a relative pressure between the sample line and ambient atmosphere. The stainless steel relative sensors have a single port but include a pressure compensation port open to the ambient atmosphere so that the measured pressure is always relative to ambient. Absolute sensors always measure the absolute pressure applied - so with port open the gauge would read atmospheric pressure.
1 Atmosphere equals 14.7 psi = 406.9" H2O = 101,325 Pascals = 1013 mBar
